This page explains what data noumanlabs.com collects, why it collects it, and who else receives it. The site uses no advertising, no Google Analytics, and no tracking pixels.
Who runs this site
Nouman Labs is a personal website run by Nouman Yaqoob. For any privacy question, use the contact page.
Visiting the site
Most visits set no cookies at all. Reading a page, browsing the archive, or searching the site stores nothing on your device.
Cloudflare
Cloudflare delivers this site, protects it from attacks, and speeds up page loads. To do this, Cloudflare processes your IP address and basic details about each request.
If Cloudflare sees suspicious traffic, it may set a short-lived security cookie such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance. These cookies do not identify you.
The site also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views. It uses no cookies, does not track you across sites, and does not build a profile of you.

Web hosting
Hostinger hosts this site and stores its files and database. Hostinger’s servers keep standard access logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

Embedded videos
Some posts include YouTube videos, and these videos do not load automatically. Instead, you first see a placeholder image stored on this site, with a notice that the video comes from YouTube.
Nothing goes to YouTube until you click to play. After you click, the video loads from youtube-nocookie.com.
At that point, Google receives your IP address and the page you are on. YouTube may also set cookies on your device, such as VISITOR_INFO1_LIVE, YSC and __Secure-YNID.
Google uses these cookies to measure views, remember player settings and, depending on your Google account settings, personalise ads. Read Google’s privacy policy, which covers YouTube.
If you tick “Always display content from YouTube”, the site saves your choice in a cookie named embed-privacy for one year. This cookie holds only that choice.
You can withdraw your choice at any time with the setting below.
Comments
When you leave a comment, the site stores your name, email address, website if you add one, and the comment itself. It also stores your IP address and your browser’s user agent to help moderate comments and block spam.
The site keeps comments and their data until the site owner deletes them. The site never shows your email address publicly.
Comment cookies
If you tick the box to save your details, WordPress stores your name, email and website in three cookies. This means you do not have to retype them next time.
The cookie names start with comment_author_, comment_author_email_ and comment_author_url_, followed by a code. They last about one year, and WordPress sets none of them if you leave the box unticked.
Spam checking with Akismet
Akismet, a service run by Automattic, checks comments for spam. Akismet receives your comment, name, email, website, IP address and user agent.

Profile pictures with Gravatar
Comments show a profile picture from Gravatar, which Automattic also runs. To find your picture, the site sends Gravatar a hashed form of your email address.
Your browser then loads the image from Gravatar, which sees your IP address. Read Automattic’s privacy policy, which covers Gravatar.
Contact form
The contact form asks for your name, email address and message. The form also records your IP address and browser user agent with each submission.
The site stores each submission for 365 days, then deletes it automatically. Akismet also checks form submissions for spam, as described above.
The site emails a copy of your message to the site owner. Brevo sends that email, and Google hosts the inbox it arrives in.

Logged-in users
Only site administrators log in. When they do, WordPress sets session cookies such as wordpress_logged_in_.
Visitors never receive these cookies.
Backups
When the site owner backs up the site, the backup contains the database. That database includes stored comments and form submissions.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data the site holds about you. You can also ask for that data to be corrected or deleted.
To make a request, use the contact page and give the email address you used on the site. If you are in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If the site starts collecting new data or using a new service, we will update this page first. The date at the top shows the latest change.
