Today I installed Debian-XFCE after after 19 years. Last time I tried it was in 2007. It is still cute, fast, and endlessly customizable. Linux has come a long way, this time I didn’t have to run any terminal commands to set everything up.
The reason for switching from Gnome was simply nostalgia. As I have been reading a lot of blogs about web revival, it all reminded me of the times when I was care free and trying to find my way around the internet.
I am hoping it will inspire me to write more, create more things, and be more open.

I went around looking for what everyone else is sharing, and found this interesting article by Dave McMackins, about how using AI is anti-social.
I believe AI is going to change the definition of social interactions. Right now, we are all quite unsure about how it will affect society and economics. I prefer to be optimistic about human resilience and creativity. I believe solutions for our worries will come out of these anxieties.
Web revival movement is one such attempt where individuals are trying to reclaim the web by making deliberate choices to be independent, personal, and keep the old web going on the sidelines of the slop factories.
My worry is that AI is expensive, which means countries and people with means to afford this infrastructure get enormous control.
However, there are cheaper, local, and smaller models are making waves too. So there is a hope that like Free Software, there may be something like Free (as in freedom) AI for everyone.
